An Eye on the Enemy: The Bucs Select Ronald Jones in the Second

The Tampa Bay Bucs continued their NFL draft by selecting USC Running Back Ronald Jones. Let me just say this, I’m just glad they were dumb enough to pass on Derrius Guice, apparently over protest statements. Ronald Jones is a running back with great finesse and he’ll likely go into Tampa immediately competing for the starting position.

Jones is a quick and elusive back. Ran a 4.39 40 has good hands to develop into a factor in the passing game. The latter of which makes him very valuable in the evolving game of football. He still has a ton of tread on the tires as well as he only had 6 starts before taking on the starting job his final, Junior year.

Tampla Bay may take a little time to figure out how to use Jones. When they do, though, he’s going to be a great weapon for them. I’d give this one an 8/10 just based on our typical struggles with covering running backs out of the backfield. Though those woes became less of an issue last year, it’s still worth being accounted for. Again, though, just glad it wasn’t Guice.
